Internship Program
Thank you for your interest in SummitMedia Louisville’s Internship Program. This program is designed to give first-hand, real-life experience in the media industry with a focus on radio/broadcast, advertising, and digital media careers. Internships enhance classroom learning through practical, career-related work experience. Interns will have the opportunity to observe and gain hands-on experience in all areas of radio broadcasting including promotions & events, programming, production, and sales & digital marketing.

How the SummitMedia Internship Program works and next steps to be considered:
- Actively enrolled Student must apply to the Talent Bank (on website). Included with the application will be the SummitMedia Internship assessment, which must be completed to be considered for the 2025 Summer Internship Program.
- Interviews and selection process will begin approximately 4-6 weeks prior to the term. *Summer Term application process is first-come, first-serve and the deadline for consideration is no later than May 31st. SummitMedia’s Internship Selection Committee will evaluate all applicants – interviews are not guaranteed.
- Student must provide school internship requirements at the beginning of the program.
- Student’s behavior, attendance, and attitude will be reviewed with all department leaders. All evaluations will be discussed with the student and shared with school officials.
- To gain college credit, an official letter from the college or university is required with the application process.
Internship Term Availability: Summer Term is approximately 6-8 weeks, typically held between May-August, start and end date vary. Internships may also be offered throughout the academic year.
Internship Areas of Focus: During the Internship Program, students will be exposed and receive training on the following items listed, but not limited to:
- Marketing/Promotions/Events – assist the promotions department with tasks related to planning, scheduling, and preparing for station & community events. Gain experience in radio contesting/promotions, social media/engagement, and marketing. May include on-site event experience.
- Advertising Sales – work with the sales department on all aspects of the client prospecting and consulting process from initial call, appointment & presentation, negotiation, and closing process.
- Programming – gain knowledge and exposure to the “on-air” related careers of the radio business. Learn about daily station and programming operations such as scheduling music/imaging, following music trends & reporting, and the various aspects of being an on-air radio show host
- Production – collaborate with the Production Director to learn various components of producing commercials including recording, voice-over, and editing.
During this internship, students will become familiarized with the daily demands of a highly engaged and demanding multi-media company. Students will work in a dynamic team environment with opportunities to practice & exhibit professional behaviors and skills in areas listed, but not limited to:
